Anna Paquin was born in the city of Winnipeg, but was raised in Wellington. She began her acting career as Flora McGrath in her character in the romance film The Piano. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and raised by Wellington Paquin's father, was first seen on stage as Flora McGrath. For this role she received an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of eleven. She was the second-youngest winner in Oscar History. Anna Paquin's full title is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on the 24th of July, 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was a Canadian birthed New Zealand actress. As as a young girl, she was awarded the Academy Award for best support actress. Her performance as the enthusiastic and lively girl of Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) earned her the honor. As a result of an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter a Scottish pianist. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician who moved to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. In her teens she emigrated into the United States. Paquin played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 as well as a brief appearance as Jane Eyre in the film when she was still a toddler. Paquin was Frankie Addams from a television film adaptation of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding (1997). The actress was a part of the supporting cast in the Queen of Spain Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997. She was a teenager in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) and A Walk on the Moon (1999) and played the character of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
